True strength lies in submission which permits one to dedicate his life, through devotion, to something beyond himself.
I read these words and they resonate with me. "to dedicate his life, through devotion, to something beyond himself." Isn't that what we do? We are dedicated and devoted to TTWD. It doesn't matter really if you are a sub, a slave, a dom or domme, or a master. It doesn't even matter if you are owned. It all is the same for each of us no matter what camp we are a part of.
For those that fall in the sub category, like myself, we are dedicated to service. Service comes in so many levels for me.
- The most often, sexual service. I lead with this because as many of know when you "come out" to others outside our community, most often the first place they go is sex. How many times I have heard these words, "So he can have sex with you no matter if you want or not?" This is a subject I find to be trite. I do serve Aeon in a sexual manner. I am dedicated to making sure his needs in the bedroom are met. I should say however, Aeon is very diligent in making sure my needs are met. There are times that my needs or wants are not high on the priority list because of my attitude.
- Service in the home. We all have our rules or guidelines to follow with in our homes. It may be cleaning or cooking or bill paying but for the most part it's there. This is the form of service I struggle with. I hate to clean. I hate to cook. I suck at keeping up with laundry. This form of service geeks me out and I will admit I am some what resentful of it.
- Service in attitude. Again an area I struggle with. For me this means being respectful and being mindful of one's actions. I am always respectful to Aeon, that is not the struggle. My struggle comes from the mindful part. I am a last word kind of girl. I am extremely argumentative. I blame my upbringing. You see I grew up with a single dad who was active in his union. He went on to become a national arbitrator. He often did not have a sitter for me and would cart me off to union meetings. Now for anyone that ever been to a union meeting you know these can become VERY heated. By age 8 I knew more curse words and racial slurs than most trucker or sailors. I also, however, could pretty much quote Roberts Rules of Order. With that said I blame union meetings for my love of the argument. I find that most discipline I receive comes from smarting off or arguing.
For me, these are the 3 main sources of service. I am sure for many of you there are more. I am also sure for many of you the big 3 are more detailed. For Aeon and i this is the jest of it.
This week as I move trough my day I will reflect on this quote. I will write it down and keep it in my purse. I will keep a copy in my visor of my car. I will keep it written beside the bed so that I read it before sleep and as I wake up. For me this will be the thought I carry with me day to day.
